The Reception Day

The entrance for Reception children is via gate 3,where a member of Reception staff will be there to greet your child at 8.30am.

It is a busy part of the day so should your query need more time, a meeting after school can always be arranged by contact the office.

The children choose when they want to have a drink and eat their fruit, both of which are available throughout the day. Children only stop for lunch, meaning they have greater curriculum contact than any other year group. Fruit is provided by the ‘Fruits for Schools ‘scheme. The children are encouraged to have a piece of fruit each day; no other snacks are necessary.

Lunchtime for Reception is 11:30 - 12:30. Under the universal free school dinner scheme, we encourage all children to enjoy our freshly prepared school meals. Our friendly cook will happily try and accommodate any dietary requirements so, if you have any concerns, please speak to the class teacher or contact the office. Lunchtime is a very important part of the school day. Children are encouraged to be independent, try new food, use a knife and a fork and enjoy sociable chats around the table.

The school day for Reception children ends at 3.00. Parents can come through gate 3 and then exit via gate 4.

Please ensure all of your child’s belongings are clearly marked with their full name. Many items of uniform are mislaid or lost due to missing names.

We do not encourage children to bring in toys from home due to the Covid-19 situation.
