ECT Development
At Lingfield we use Xavier Teaching Hub as the Appropriate Body and Training provider for all of our ECT, mentor and Induction Tutor training.
All Early Career Teachers (ECTs) now benefit from two years of statutory, fully-funded support and development based on the Early Career Framework (ECF). Xavier Teaching School Hub is proud to be working in partnership with Teach First to deliver the fully-funded ECF Induction Programme.
As one of six national Lead Providers, Teach First collaborates with the Department for Education (DfE) to develop training materials, which are then provided to our Xavier ECF facilitators. Our team is responsible for delivering the ECF programme, leveraging the expertise within our local schools.
Xavier's Training Programme Provides:
Local expert ECF Lead Schools: Working with groups of ECTs and their mentors to guide them through the programme.
Training Modules: Both online and face-to-face.
Mentor Programme: To support and develop colleagues.
Weekly bulletin: To support access to the programme.
World-class online learning platform: Delivered by Teach First.
Subject-specific focus in Year 2: for secondary and sixth form ECTs.
The DfE have released guidance for school leaders on setting up training based on the early career framework. This will include:
10% release time in their first year
5% release time in their second year
Two-year package of support from their mentor
We passionately believe that the early career framework supports all ECTs and mentors with a national consistent programme of high-quality, evidence-based training to support their growth in the fundamental years of their development as a teacher.
